Cake & Whiskey

Cake, Good.

Whiskey, Good.

Cake & Whiskey= Amazing!

Now that we have that settled…did you know there is also an amazing, women’s business magazine, started by Lexington’s very own Megan Smith, known as Cake & Whiskey? If this is news to you… check it out the website here and on Facebook here. Cake & Whiskey’s mission is to support and encourage women in all stages of their business journey, and in efforts to encourage, support women, there have been pop up “chapters/groups” of Cake & Whiskey all over the US. A time for women to come together, network, and share ideas.

This past Thursday night, Cake & Whiskey Lexington met at Enoteca (located on the corner of Jefferson and 2nd Street) to eat cake, drink whiskey and talk shop.

Enoteca, a fairly new addition to the Jefferson Street district (located at 2nd and Jefferson) brings a whole new vibe to the downtown area. Enoteca, is known for their wine and tapas and is a great place for a social gathering to enjoy a glass of wine, a bourbon on the rocks (or another cocktail of your choice), and indulge in small plates (think cheese plates, lamb slides…is your mouth watering yet…it will be when you see the photo below!).  Owners, Seth and Renee (who also own Wine + Market across the street) were gracious enough to let Cake & Whiskey take over their patio for the first meet up of 2014.

Here is a peak inside the bar. I am obsessed with exposed brick!  And look at this “green room!” So chic!

Town and Branch, the genius distillery that came up with Bourbon Barrel Ale, sponsored the bourbon whiskey for the evening. We were even lucky enough to get a sampling of their new Rye. It’s a hot commodity, from what I’m told…if you find a bottle, buy it because it may be a while before you can get it again (dang that bourbon for taking so long to work its magic! )

The featured cake for the evening was Martine’s pistachio and chocolate (Facebook here and website here). Oh that pistachio cake…I can’t stop thinking about it!

My favorite part of the night…Martine supervised Seth as he sliced and served her beautiful creations.

Cake & Whiskey Lexington was excited to have Megan in town to speak as she is the NAWBO’s winners circle award recipient for 2014.  I’ve known Megan for years and have never heard her speak until this meeting. She is truly been an inspiration to me and many, many other women.

A big congrats to Megan for all her accomplishments!

Prepare for more mouth watering…tapas from the Enoteca menu below (how amazing do those lamb slides look?) Please visit this amazing little spot if you have not. You will not regret it. The newly expanded patio and soon to be rooftop patio are going to be a big hit this summer.

A big, big thanks to Seth and Renee from Enoteca for the space, to Ashley from Town and Branch for the bourbon, to Martine for her amazing cakes, to Megan for being such an inspiration to women everywhere, and to Amy for all her hard work putting this event together.

We are looking forward to the next Cake & Whiskey Lexington meet up!
